Enterprise Vault EV 8.0 and IIS 7 - IPv4 Address and Domain Restrictions is set to Read/Write'

One of the issues I have run into several times when installing EV 8.0.x on Windows 2008 and configuring OWA exstensions is the locked down nature of IIS 7. One common problem is during the configure the Data Access account for OWA phase when you run:

"cscript owauser.wsf /domain: domain /user:username /password: password"

You get the following error:

ERROR: Failed to update IP address restrictions. Check that Feature Delegation for 'IPv4 Address and Domain Restrictions' is set to 'Read/Write'

The fix for this is as follows:

1. Go to "Start->Administrative Tools->Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager"
2. It's important you do not choose "Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Manager"

 



 

3. Once in the MMC click the Web Site as shown below.
4. Then change the "Group by:" to "No Grouping". You may also want to select "Show Details" so you get a list like below.

 



 

5. Double click "Feature Delegation".
6. Now select "Delegation" from the "Group by:" drop down as shown below.

 



 

7. Select "IPv4 Address and Domain...
8. In the far right "Actions" pane click on "Read/Write".
9. Now exit the MMC.

 



 

 

That should do it.

Now re-run the owauser.wsf and your error should be gone.
